A tribute to the imagination, CuBBYHOuSE combines live music, theatre and physical comedy. From a Berlin post-punk nightclub to the botox-infested streets of L.A. and the grey mundanity of corporate banking, we join Holly and Ado as they attempt to find their place in the world. There’s a wedding, a funeral, imaginary friends called Boris and Tanya and “Negative Voice”, who ensures the dynamic duo keep at least one foot firmly in reality. As they flit from fantastical dreamscapes to a suspended reality, Holly and Ado’s joyful bubble is irresistible. Between them they play more than 20 flamboyant characters, create a live soundtrack and thrust audiences headlong into a world inhabited by the likes of the Umbilical Brothers and Flight of the Conchords. CuBBYHOuSE comes to Adelaide on the back of a critically acclaimed sell-out Sydney season at the Old Fitzroy Theatre (Nov 2009). Devised and performed by Holly Austin (Black Balloon, Richard 3, Mask II: Son of Mask) and Adriano Cappelletta (A View from the Bridge, Death of a Salesman, Go Pinocchio) the show is a masterful display of theatricality and fast-paced characterisations.
