The Arts Centre Forecourt, 100 St Kilda Rd, Melbourne Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, Badu Island & Red Flag Dancers (Aus)Thurs 20 Nov at 7pm Tickets $25.00 Blind from birth, Gurrumul is a powerhouse of musical creativity. A former member of Yothu Yindi, now with Saltwater Band, Gurrumul’s solo excursions highlight his amazing talent as a singer/ songwriter/ musician, his beautiful voice singing the songs of his Gumatj country of North East Arnhemland will never leave you. Red Flag Dancers from Arnhem Land, Northern Territory. Australia’s most energetic and colourful traditional dance group. Red Flag songs and dances belong to the band’s Nundhirribala clan and have come from hundreds of years of contact with the Maccassan traders from Indonesia. Badu Island Dancers - Aibai Cultural Group from the Torres Strait, Queensland. The Badu Island Dancers perform in the Kala Lagaw Ya language, they present secular and sacred music and dance, sharing their unique heritage as Indigenous Australians.
